Crownies? Brookies? Brownie Cookies!

I recently found myself in a conundrum.  Baking was certainly going to happen but I couldn't decide between a delicious simple pan of brownies or a plate full of cookies.  What's a girl to do?  Let me show you!
That's right people, we have Brownie Cookies!  A delectable pan of moist brownies topped with globs of sweet, yet slightly salty chocolate chip cookies.  The perfect combination with hardly any extra effort needed.
Seeing all of the ingredients out and ready always fills my heart with a kind of joy unlike any other
The chocolate chip dough begins with the creaming of butter, sugars, and vanilla
This is my new best friend!  It's absolutely fantastic as the silicone edge scrapes the sides infinitely better during mixing, I do still occasionally have to scrape down the sides but much more rarely and what I am scraping down is in fact mixed together and not simply the individual ingredients.  Hurray!
Add in the egg
The dry ingredients
My favorite, the chocolate chips are added.  At this point the dough is left to sit in the bowl as the brownie batter comes together.
This is the same base brownie recipe I used in the Cream Cheese Brownies with just a few slight changes.
Butter and chocolate chips are melted into a perfectly smooth pot of deliciousness.
In go the eggs
Followed by all of the dry ingredients

And we're done.  The only difference between these brownies and the Cream Cheese ones is that I didn't add in the extra chocolate chips or the nuts.  You could certainly add both but as the chocolate chips would be in the cookie dough I opted to go for the less is more way of thinking.

Fill a 9x13 pan with the brownie batter first and then scoop the cookie dough on top.  You  want them to be fairly large scoops so that the cookie dough sinks and becomes thoroughly mixed with the brownies.
After baking!
Ooooo
Ahhhh
Delectable!
So there you have it!  An absolutely fantastic cross between brownies and cookies made in an afternoon.  If you could combine any two desserts which would they be?  Who ever said we had to choose just one. ;)

Tips & Tricks
  • You could use any brownie and cookie recipe you have on hand and know works for you.  If you do set the oven according to the brownie recipe and bake for approximately twice as long.
  • The cookie recipe written out above you is my recipe halved, if you want to have some dough left over to actually make cookies you should double it.
Thanks for reading and happy baking!
